Hello Friends,
I’ve been working non-stop on a very important project for the past few weeks! It involves the movie Space Jam.
After 25 years, we finally have a real chance at getting justice.
- Read the complaint and Exhibit A filed in court today.
- Read “The Devil and Doodazzle Dakins,” written by my father, Walter L. Lowe Jr., and published in the April issue of Playboy Magazine in 1984.
- Please share with friends, family, and on social media.

Ma’am, your father wrote a fascinating story but it is no where near Space Jam. I wish you luck
Hello,
I agree, my Dad did write a fascinating and completely unique story! Thanks for taking the time to read it. If you think it is no where near Space Jam, then I’m afraid you don’t understand how Copyright Law works. Ideas are not protected, but the EXPRESSION of those ideas is protected. Space Jam expresses at least 12 of the exact same ideas, in the exact same way as my father’s story. Furthermore, two of the screenwriters on the Space Jam film (Harris and Weingrod) were SO interested in the story back in 1984, that they optioned it TWICE to make it into a film. There was no film made; at which point copyrights reverted back to my father. Then 12 years later, we see AT LEAST 12 expressions from my father’s story (refer to #13-25 of the complaint) featured prominently in Space Jam.
I would be interested to hear how numbers 13-25 on the legal complaint are “no where near Space Jam.”
I also challenge you to find a story ANYWHERE, that contains the exact elements, expressed the exact same way, as described in #13-25 of the claim.
I will wait….. Come back here and leave another comment when you’ve found an example.
Thanks for wishing us luck.
Holly
He who steals my purse steals trash but if he is caught, he’ll suffer the consequence. He who steals my intellectual property is likely to get away with it, particularly if the thief is a giant media company. Justice should be commonplace. Fact is, it’s pretty rare. This is a good story and I hope it’s a good outcome.
While the media company might be a giant, as Dr. King once said, “the moral arc of the universe is long, and it bends towards justice.” Thank you for your support. xoxo
